Mario has been a heavy hitter in Japans marketplace since the original Donkey Kong on the NES in 1983. Now with nintendo having recently releasing its newset mario title New Super Mario Bros. Wii Released November 15th and oddly enough December 3rd In Japan.

Even with its late release in Japan the newest addition to Mario  is banging out the sales numbers at 1,366,000 In Japan alone. Now this is of little surprise. And this will likly keep its pass for more time to come. However with the recent release of FFXIII on December 17th In Japan it is sure to see some competition but I would be suprised If Mario was beat out by FFXIII In the long run.

I say this for the fact every family with a child has a Wii and they are likly to buy Mario over the more violent FFXIII In Japan.
Needless to say Mario is doing very well and I’m sure Mario Galaxy 2 will have a similar spot to this one on the top charts.

First week sales show FF XIII selling stronger In Japan. However I stand by my original statement that Mario will sell overall better. their is a lot of FFXIII fans in Japan and they are the type to wait in line for this game. However Mario is a national Icon and every family is sure to pick up Mario in time so I still believe Mario will outsell FF XIII in its overall shelf time.
