I was looking around the BBC website when i found this article.

The article is talking about the executions in China and how the government is planing to change the policies in place about how they carry out executions and how China is declaring less executions per year. But this is not what grabbed my attention. What got my attention was the ending of BBC’s Article. Quoted “Are you in China? What do you think of the country’s ‘execution policy’? Send us your comments using the form below.”

Now China being under so much scrutiny for tracking its internet and forcing policy’s on company’s such as Google. As well as lashing down on public out cry. What makes the BBC think its a good idea to ask users in China to state their stance on this issue when saying so could put them in this very execution spot that they are writing on.

Now in no way do I think this was intended by the BBC, but I sent a email as well as a comment stating they should consider changing their writing and or place a disclaimer on the post as it could be seen in a negative light.

I enjoy the BBC and its articles but to ask a country’s people to write out about their government though it noble can end in a misguided situation which would be unseen to the rest of the world.

Being someone who’s been around oppressive governments it might be a good idea to consider what you ask of your readers.
BBC please consider my stance.

Tell me your thoughts on this i’m interested in what you have to say.

Update : This morning I hoped on to check the site and I found that the BBC took my stance into consideration and has now removed the before quoted text.

Thank you BBC for considering your readers.

Searching around the web I found the site Japan it Up! from an American by the name of Steve living in Japan with a similar situation to mine. I decided to invest some time and interest and found that the site had usual and interesting facts and tidbits about his personal experience In Japan.

Personally even living in Japan its always entertaining to read up on someone else’s experiences and see just how much they differ from my own.

The site covers a wide range of things in Japan from daily living to Culture.
Take a minute and head and see what hes got to offer.

Something as simple as how you greet your neighbors is different in Japan. A lot of times it depends on the circumstance of the greeting. Are they driving by in a car? or walking by with their dog, or taking the trash to the garbage at the end of the street.

Something like taking the trash out is often as simple as just saying hello good morning.
Where as if you were driving by a neighbor and or friend a nod of the head for acknowledgment is normal. However I am a 6,2 white guy so most my neighbors will wave at me along with the before mentioned nod.
When I go to catch the train in the morning my direct neighbor always says hello have a good day at work and come back home safe. a polite but reassuring greeting that reminds me even though I am white and some what of a outsider I am still welcome.

Now obviously this is not the case for everyone and i’m sure someone will say that they have completely different things happen but then again everyone is different. If you come looking for a direct answer of what Japanese will do every time you do something such as how to bow to someone it doesn’t really matter you should remember that you are not a Japanese national and they will not hold you to the same standards as they do themselves.

This does not mean that all Japanese look down on you for being a foreigner but rather that they will not blame you for making mistakes that would seem common knowledge to them.

Japan is a country the same as America though it is different in the way it is governed its the same as in all people are different which makes the world such a beautiful place. Live learn and love the life you have and if you have the chance to come to Japan to visit do it.

If you have any questions please ask away and I will answer what I can!

Living In Japan is definitely on opposite sides of the spectrum. Not only orbitally but also metaphorically.

Almost everything you can imagine is a polar opposite from America now I’m not saying either way is better but it tends to be difficult to learn a whole knew system of living.
I previously lived in Japan on my own before meeting my wife now living on my own was similar to living in america. But living in a every day instance of Japan culture with my wife and daughter is a lot different.

Knowing less then basic Japanese makes things difficult. Thankfully my wife is well enough endowed in English and she helps me everyday in learning everything I need to know.
I know this is never easy for her having to translate for me and down right stressful at times.

The culture differences range from small to large and I will post about them and the instances I learned them in.

This might not always be entertaining but I’m still trying to find my niche.
